Position Summary:

The Certified Central Sterile Supply Technician collects, cleans, decontaminates, sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure sterile and functioning supply materials and equipment. The Certified Central Sterile Supply Tech understands microbiology and infection control standards.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Active Tech certification International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPDT) required; responsible to maintain certification status.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Basic computer skills required for tracking system interface.

• Ability to work within a fast paced team oriented setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Central Sterile Supply experience.

• Good problem solving and/or decision making skills. 

• Ability to make independent decisions. 

• Ability to react and perform under strict timelines and/or emergency situations. 

• Able to maintain confidentiality at all times. 

• Leadership: Demonstrates qualities which supports professionalism and teamwork.
